How we will work together with you to find the right home foryou

Before we have our first meeting together at our office, we will ask you to fill out a buyer questionnaire. The purpose of the questionnaire is to give us information about your expectations, home parameters and plans for buying. This information will help us determine how we can best serve you as we move into the next step – looking for your new home!

Once you have provided us with a list of home parameters and your lenders' approval letter and we have talked through your needs at our first office meeting, we will make an appointment for “Education Day”. This is our opportunity to get to know you and for you to get to know us. After this outing, we will mutually decide if we all want to move forward and work together. If you are part of a couple who are buying together, it’s essential that both buyers come out with us that day.

Our initial tour of homes aka “Education Day”:

Our first tour usually takes place Saturday or Sunday, depending on your work schedule and our availability. It’s important that we view homes in the daylight. We can either tour together on weekends or you will need to make a couple of 2 hour appointments with us during weekdays. In the summer and spring, we have more light and can possibly view homes after work hours and before dusk.

We use the first time touring with you to learn more about what you want and need by seeing your reactions and listening to your feedback about the homes we see. Sometimes you will see the house of your dreams the first time out but this is unusual. This first time out together is really to educate you to the current market and for us to get to know each other. You’ll be educating us about your needs and wants.

Once you have previewed 6-10 homes in your price range, even if you don’t like any of them enough to make an offer, you will have accomplished something very important. You will have a very good idea of the kinds or types of homes that you can expect to see come on the market. You will know the kinds of homes (features/condition/location) that you can expect to see at your price point.

After our first tour you may adjust your expectations. This is common.  You’ll need to match your expectations with the reality of the market. Often, it’s a matter of continuing to think about your priorities and to decide what’s most important to you. You may decide to let go of unnecessary features or expectations.

Our task is to help you realistically prioritize and to help you understand what you are seeing. We know the market and we will have opinions about value and condition. The next step will be to schedule our following tour times, decide how you want to communicate about listings coming on the market, and find the perfect place for you!
